Welcome to the International Student Services
Resource Guide
for our New SLC International Students!
International Student Services (ISS) is the resource at Sarah Lawrence College for your immigration and student visa questions. Our priority is to provide vital information to help you through the confusing immigration world and even help you after you graduate such as while you are on Post-completion OPT.
Currently work in progress and will be periodically updating
Congrats on being admitted to Sarah Lawrence College and now you wish to know how can you study in the United States. There are many nonimmigrant visas which you can use to study while in the United States and each visa has their own requirements for maintaining status in the United States. For more information on this check out, "Nonimmigrants: Who Can Study?".
If you choose to use an F-1 student status to study in the United States then you must be admitted to a school that is SEVP-certified. Sarah Lawrence College is SEVP-certified and provides I-20's to students attending specific academic programs. To learn more about the International Student Life Cycle for those in F-1 status check out, https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/students/get-started/international-student-life-cycle.
This webpage will provide the next steps on getting ready to prepare for your U.S. College experience. Check out how to apply for your Form I-20 and review helpful information in applying for an F-1 visa (if applicable). Also, be sure to attend our Pre-Arrival Zoom webinars! Once you receive your I-20 and F-1 visa (if applicable) then attend our in-person mandatory immigration orientation to help understand more about your F-1 student status.
