First year students are not permitted to have a car on campus.

Fall semester permits are available for purchase. All charges will be placed on your student account. Prices below:

Campus residential students: $200/semester

Full-time commuters (graduate & undergraduate): $100/semester

Part-time commuters (graduate & undergraduate): $50/semester

This fee is nonrefundable.

All other permit picks up will be by appointment only.

These regulations have been compiled from experience gained through the years and with input from students, faculty and staff. A successful parking program can be achieved only with cooperation and consideration from the entire College community. The regulations are designed to make the day-to-day operations of the College as efficient as possible, to improve neighborhood relations, to reduce damage to landscaping and to prevent accidents. These objectives should be weighed against the inconvenience of walking a block or two to an assigned lot. Campus Operations, Public Safety & Security and the Committee on Undergraduate Student Life have tried to make the following regulations simple and fair for all members of the College community. Thank you for reading and observing SLC’s parking and driving regulations.

• A student may not have more than one vehicle registered in her/his name.
• Falsifying information on a registration form is a violation of college policy and will result in disciplinary action that could include loss of parking privileges.
• A new sticker must be obtained each academic year. For the fee of $400 per Academic Year or $200 per Semester*(review pricing update for Spring 2021 above). This fee is nonrefundable.
• The person to whom the vehicle is registered at the college is responsible for all parking fines and towing expenses.
• Unregistered vehicles cannot be parked on campus property at any time unless they have a visitor’s pass, temporary parking pass or special permission from the Office of Operations and Facilities.
• Only cars owned by students or students’ immediate family may be registered with the college.
• Parking Permits are for specific campus parking lots (see below).
• If you or a guest need to park an unregistered vehicle on campus, you can request a one-day visitor’s pass from Operations and Facilities.
• Only student cars with an SLC parking permit indicating the Hill House lot are permitted to park in the Hill House lot. They must, though, only park in Hill House spaces marked with “SLC.”
• Sarah Lawrence College assumes no responsibility for vehicles operated or parked on campus property. Operation and parking is fully the risk of the owner of the vehicle.
• Due to a finite number of campus parking spots, purchasing an SLC parking permit does not, at any time, guarantee you a space in a campus parking lot.

• First violation: $35.00 fine
• Second violation: $50.00 fine
• Third & each subsequent violation in academic year: $75.00 fine

• First & each subsequent violation in academic year: $75.00 fine and booting or towing at the owner's expense.
• Anyone with more than ten (10) violations during the academic year will automatically lose their parking privileges and must remove their vehicle from campus for the remainder of the school year. Prohibited vehicles parked on campus are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.
• Any vehicle parked in a Hill House tenant’s reserved space is subject to immediate towing at the owner’s expense.
• Parking in any lot other than Kober during a snow event will result in a daily $100.00 fine and/or booting/towing at the owner’s expense. Snow tickets are issued starting two hours after the first snowflake falls from the sky.
• Parking in a fire lane or in a handicapped space without a handicapped permit will result in a $100.00 fine and booting or towing at the owner’s expense.

To appeal a parking violation, the individual to whom a violation ticket was issued must write a letter of appeal to Campus Operations at operations@sarahlawrence.edu. The appeal must be made within two (2) weeks of receiving the ticket. In the event that the appeal is granted, fines associated with the violation will be waived.

• Payment of fines will be charged to one’s College account.
• Violators who are not SLC students, faculty or staff must pay fines in cash only.
• If a violator does not pay their fine within thirty (30) days of the ticket issue date, the fine will automatically be charged to their College account and will be collected through the Student Accounts billing procedure.

• During regular business hours, the violator must go to Campus Operations and pay the $75.00 fine in cash or will be billed to your student account.
• Outside of regular business hours (on evenings, weekends or holidays) the violator must go to Westlands Desk and pay $75.00 in cash only.

To ensure that you do not receive a parking violation ticket and fine, please observe the following regulations at all times.

• Unregistered vehicles may not be parked on campus property at any time.
• All student-owned vehicles parked on campus must be registered with the College and must display a valid parking permit sticker.
• All staff- and faculty-owned vehicles parked on campus must be registered with the College and must display a plastic parking permit hanging tag.
• Vehicles parked on campus that are owned by visitors, contractors and community members must display a temporary parking pass (to be obtained at Campus Operations or Westlands Desk) or the owner of the vehicle must obtain special permission from Campus Operations to park their vehicle on campus without a pass. Visitors staying overnight must show a guest pass obtained at Westlands desk in order to receive a temporary parking permit.
• Student parking permits are issued by Campus Operations for a fee of $400 for the academic year to cover administrative costs. Students may purchase a single-semester permit for $200. The fee will be charged to the student account.
• The fee is non-refundable.
• The cost of a permit is not pro-rated.
• Only one permit sticker at a time will be issued per student. Students must re-register their vehicles and obtain new permits every academic year.
• Student parking permit stickers must be posted on the inside lower left corner of the rear window.
• Parking permits are for specific campus parking lots (please see chart below).
• Students with Hill House parking stickers may park in the designated Hill House student parking area or Kober lot. Students parked anywhere else in the Hill House lot are subject to towing, booting and ticketing.
• Any transfer of ownership, such as the purchase, sale or exchange of a vehicle bearing the College parking permit should be reported promptly to Campus Operations.
• Permits are non-transferable. Students are responsible for any violations against their permits.
• Students are responsible for campus parking of any vehicle registered in their name, even if someone else is driving it or has parked it.
• All state and local motor vehicle and traffic laws are necessarily part of the College’s regulations and must be observed.
• CAMPUS SPEED LIMIT IS 15MPH.
• Due to maintenance work, special events or other circumstances in addition to snow days, there may be days when the College requires that students not park in specific lots. Advance notice will be given to the student body via email if such a situation arises.

• Students, faculty and staff who are in need of accessible parking on campus due to a disability and who have city- or state-issued accessible plates or permits may park in any designated accessible parking space on campus. Accessible parking is available in the Westlands, Kober, Andrews, 45 Wrexham, and North parking lots, and near the Performing Arts Center. To park in the designated accessible spaces, vehicles must also display a valid SLC parking pass.
• Students with temporary disabilities requiring parking accommodations should contact Health Services (healthservices@sarahlawrence.edu)  or Disability Services (dchen@sarahlawrence.edu) to request a temporary accessible parking permit. Faculty and staff with temporary disabilities should contact Human Resources to request a temporary accessible parking permit. These permits allow parking in specific lots on campus close to where classes or programs are held. These permits do not allow parking in the designated accessible parking spaces; a city- or state-issued accessible plate or permit would still be required. Once approved for the temporary accessible parking permits, students, faculty, and staff with temporary disabilities will need to go to Campus Operations in Andrews House to complete a vehicle registration card (if the car is not already registered) and to obtain the SLC temporary parking permit.

• In the interest of being a good neighbor, the College requests that no one (students, faculty or staff) park on public streets near the College. The College is committed to working with its neighbors to alleviate unwanted parking on local streets. The College maintains adequate parking spaces to meet student demand and strongly encourages all students to register their vehicles and obtain an SLC parking permit. (The City of Yonkers tows and tickets cars parked on the public streets.
• In Yonkers, people may not park on public streets for more than 24 consecutive hours.) In the event that a vehicle owned by a student causes problems between the College and our neighbors, the College may take action against the student.
• In the event that there are no available parking spaces in a student’s assigned lot, students must park in Kober lot. Due to a finite number of campus parking spots, purchasing an SLC parking permit does not, at any time, guarantee a space in a campus parking lot. If you are unable to locate a parking space in your assigned lot or Kober lot, please contact Campus Operations. Parking is not permitted on campus roads or in the driveways of the College’s houses. Illegally parking a car will result in a ticket, fine and/or booting or towing.

Operations and Facilities will notify students and students are expected to park their cars in Kober Parking Lot. If a student’s car remains in any other parking area, the student will be subject to a daily $100 fine and/or towing or booting at the owner’s expense. Snow tickets are issued starting two hours after the first snowflake falls from the sky.
