PRE-ARRIVAL PREPARATION
Before Your Departure
✅ Make sure your Passport for travel is valid or Renewed
✅ Receive your Sarah Lawrence College Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20). Here is what it looks like: sample I-20.
✅ Remember to Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee www.fmjfee.com
✅ Obtain the F-1 student visa from a U.S. Consulate or U.S. Embassy in your home country (exceptions: Citizens of Canada and Bermuda)
✅ Obtain immunization records and submit to Sarah Lawrence College Health and Wellness Center as instructed by their office.
✅ Make Flight plans - Check out Pre-arrival Information page on travel directions to Sarah Lawrence College from JFK/LGA/Newark.
Packing & Travel
✅ Know what documents and items to pack
✅ Ship/Post items to campus (undergrads only) ahead of your arrival (optional)
✅ Be sure to have a valid credit card or accessibility to funds that can be used in the United States
✅ Know the documents you will need on the plane or on hand -
- Do NOT pack these items in your checked luggage: (Passport, I-20, proof of funding, SEVIS fee receipt).
✅ Be prepared for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection procedures
