Application Process For I-20

What is an I-20?

An I-20 is a form issued by a Designated School Official (DSO) for students to obtain F-1 Student status in order to study in the United States at an eligible SEVP-certified school.

You will need an I-20 to:

  •      Apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
  •      Enter the U.S. for the first time in F-1 status and to return to the U.S. from all trips abroad during your program.
  •      Show as evidence of your F-1 or J-1 status after arrival in the U.S.
  •      Apply for a change of status from another nonimmigrant status.
