The first three months of employment are considered a trial or probationary period. During this time, you and your Department Head will have the opportunity to evaluate your interest in and suitability for your new position. At the request of the Department Head, the original trial period may be extended for an additional 30 days.

At any time during the trial period, an employee may resign or the College may terminate their services without the usual two-weeks notice. Toward the end of the trial period, the employee and the immediate supervisor will meet to discuss the employee's performance and the supervisor's recommendation concerning continuation of employment. The supervisor's written evaluation and recommendation will be filed with the Department Head and the Human Resources Office.

During the trial period, employees may not take sick/family leave, vacation, or personal days, although accrual of these benefits is retroactive to the date of employment. Participation in other benefits begins in accordance with the sections pertaining to each benefit even if the trial period has not expired.
