Help

In accordance with New York State law, this plan provides coverage to all regular full- and part-time non-academic employees of the College for any injury or illness sustained at times other than while performing the duties of employment. The first seven days of disability are a waiting period for which no benefits are paid. Benefit rights begin on the eighth consecutive day of disability and payments are made for a maximum of 26 weeks. Payments are one-half weekly salary up to a maximum determined by New York State. Employees are covered only while in active service with the College. An employee on an unpaid leave of absence is not covered. Additional College benefits available to eligible employees who are receiving New York State Disability benefits are discussed under Extended Medical Leave.

A claim form must be filed with our insurance carrier before New York State Disability benefits and any applicable disability-related College benefits can begin. These forms may be obtained from the Human Resources Office.
