Sarah Lawrence College is an intellectual community founded on mutual respect. The College is committed to providing a living, learning and working environment that is free from sexual and gender-based misconduct. Offenses such as sexual harassment and sexual assault can impair or limit the educational and occupational opportunities of any person at Sarah Lawrence and have no place in this community.

Students have the right to make a report to campus security, local law enforcement, and/or state police or choose not to report; to report the incident to the College; to be protected by the College from retaliation for reporting an incident; and to receive assistance and resources from the College.

  • Read the SLC Student Bill of Rights.
  • Learn more about Reporting Options.
  • The Policy on Sexual Violence can be found within the 2023-24 Student Handbook (pages 124-191) and is in effect for the 2024-25 academic year as of January 9, 2025 due to a federal court decision from the Eastern District of Kentucky. The Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy and related procedures are no longer in effect for the College as of January 9, 2025, due to the same federal court decision. Prohibited conduct within the Policy on Sexual Violence includes: sexual harassment, including quid pro quo and hostile environment harassment; sexual assault; domestic violence; dating violence; stalking; and sexual exploitation.
  • If you would like to file a Preliminary Report with the Title IX Office, you may use this form, or see the below contact information for the Title IX Coordinator.
  • All faculty (including tenured, nontenured, and visiting professors and graduate assistants), staff (except for Health & Wellness staff), Residence Life employees (including RAs), and some student employees (including Gryphon Guides) are mandated reporters - meaning they must report to the Title IX Office any potential violations of the Policy on Sexual Violence.
