The Dean of Studies Office (DOS) oversees or works with the following areas:

1. Students' academic progress, which includes:

  • assisting dons and faculty in advising and guiding students toward completion of their degree
  • meeting with students one-on-one to discuss academic policies and curricular options
  • supporting students in need of additional academic help
  • connecting students to key college resources 

2. The Committee on Student Work, a standing faculty committee comprised of faculty, administrators and students.  It is tasked with the following:

  • reviewing each student's academic progress at the end of every semester
  • setting and evaluating academic policies and procedures
  • hearing student appeals for exceptions to academic policy
  • reviewing student plans for leaves of absence and for domestic and abroad off-campus study programs 
  • screening candidates for competitive postgraduate scholarships and fellowships

3. First Year Studies assignments, donning support and assistance
