The Personal Brand Exemplified

Browsing through my Facebook newsfeed, I found a poignant example of the personal brand and the way it's creator chose to identify it. In this post, a young woman who studies at Yale University identifies her "personal brand of feminism" Here is is:

What's my feminism?

For me, there is a big difference between being a feminist just because you spend most of your time talking about feminism, and being a feminist because your actions embody a will to empower yourself and other women in your community. Everyone has a right to their own person brand of feminism because it is something that can be expressed in a multitude of ways. I am an Afro-Womanist; my own personal brand of female empowerment influenced by my experiences and struggles as a woman of the African diaspora. As a young black woman I experience sexism and racism simultaneously and therefore both affect my self-identity. I am as black as I am female and that does not exclude me from the dynamic discourse of female empowerment and liberation, it simply gives me a different perspective on the social, economic, and cultural issues facing women today.
