Just a tiny analysis...

As I have been blogging about Norwegian lifestyle bloggers, I realize that I haven’t given an analysis of the blogs I’ve been looking at. It would possibly be a good idea to start out with an analysis as an introduction, but as that didn’t happen, I am giving it to you now -- short and sweet (?)!

A clear theme in the two main blogs I’ve been looking at, www.fotballfrue.no and www.eirinkristiansen.blogg.no, is, as the status of their blogs predict, everyday life/lifestyle. They both write about, not only fashion, but also often include a summary of their day with food recipes, photos of their day, interior and workouts. Another main theme is light colors, such as pink, white and light grey. The colors create a light, soft and easy mood, with no surprises, both in the layout and in the texts. The language is overall positive, and does not usually include happenings that have been negative in their everyday life.

They often have a set structure, and both bloggers blog around three times a day. Especially www.fotballfrue.no has repetitive themes, such as “Recipe-Wednesday” where she shares a new recipe every Wednesday (http://fotballfrue.no/2014/04/02/oppskrift-onsdag-honningmarinade-og-tzatziki). They often give product descriptions, as their products are usually sponsored by large, or up-and-coming companies that need publicity. (http://fotballfrue.no/2014/04/07/vorspiel-pa-badet-slik-blir-du-festklar). One reason for their repetitive themes comes from readers’ requests. To maintain their big number of readers, they naturally have to please them, and most of their posts are based upon requests from the audience.

I think it is important to mention that Norway is a very beauty-obsessed country, and that there is a certain hierarchy for where trends originate from – blogs being an institution on the very top of the hierarchy. As in other countries, bloggers in Norway have become an important part of the fashion world. Being a small country, blogs have a crucial voice and reach out to a big number of the youth in Norway. What bloggers write about is very effective and has a great influence on their readers. Presenting their world as perfect sets a high standard on what young readers are taught to believe is ideal.

I'm glad you provided this brief analysis. Looking at visual elements, patterns, etc. in addition to the content of writing and images, reveals a lot about the practice of blogging, as you have noted. And the cultural context about the status of blogs that you provided further adds to that.
