CONFERENCE: The first of many posts

So here we are! Tossing out my first, real blog post is a tricky one. It's like learning to talk again, in some odd way. I have to find my blogger voice. I know either way it goes, it will be my voice, but I am is it casual, chilling with my friends pretending to be a little quirkier than I really am me, or semi-professional teetering on academic me. It's all about exploring typing tones, right?

I am feeling good about this virtual research challenge that is going to make up my conference work for the semester. The major idea for my project will be structured around creating, sustaining, and analyzing the concept of personal brands in the virtual world. This is going to be a project about identity, structure, and lucrative possibilities. For now, I am keeping it broad; here are some of the areas I am interested in focusing on throughout my conference - blogging journey:

* Teens and the personal Facebook brand

* Personal branding in the corporate world, facilitated by platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter

* Body image and social identity, as it relates to the personal brand

* Gender binaries and the personal brand

* Anything and everything else that comes up along the way

I am willing to become immersed in the virtual world I have set out to analyze. I plan to be in the virtual field, talking with individuals who have mastered the art of the virtual personal brand as well as people, like me, who are really just getting started. I'd even love to talk with some of your about your experiences on social media, for a start. I know a topic like this is prone to change, but that will be part of the experiment.

I am excited. I'm ready. Let's do it.

Great start! I like that you have imagined a broad range of ideas, and immersing and exploring is exactly what these conference projects are about. At some point, you will need to narrow it down, and any one of those topical areas would be a good choice.
