Sarah Lawrence College is an intellectual community founded on mutual respect. The College is committed to providing a living, learning and working environment that is free from sexual and gender-based misconduct. Offenses such as sexual harassment and sexual assault can impair or limit the educational and occupational opportunities of any person at Sarah Lawrence and have no place in this community.

Students have the right to make a report to campus security, local law enforcement, and/or state police or choose not to report; to report the incident to the College; to be protected by the College from retaliation for reporting an incident; and to receive assistance and resources from the College.

  • Read the SLC Student Bill of Rights.
  • Learn more about Reporting Options.
  • The Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy can be found within either the Student Handbook (Undergraduate) or Student Handbook (Graduate). Prohibited conduct within the Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy includes: sex discrimination; sex-based harassment, including quid pro quo and hostile environment harassment; sexual assault; domestic violence; dating violence; stalking; and sexual exploitation.
  • If you would like to file a Preliminary Report with the Title IX Office, you may use this form, or see the below contact information for the Title IX Coordinator.
  • All faculty (including tenured, nontenured, and visiting professors and graduate assistants), staff (except for Health & Wellness staff), Residence Life employees (including RAs), and some student employees (including Gryphon Guides) are mandated reporters - meaning they must report to the Title IX Office any potential violations of the Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy.
  • Under the 2024 Title IX regulations, the Title IX Coordinator is tasked with ensuring that students who are pregnant or have pregnancy-related conditions (including students who are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition, including childbirth, loss or termination of pregnancy, lactation, medical conditions related thereto, or recovery therefrom) have equal access to education and to prevent sex discrimination on Sarah Lawrence’s campus. This includes discussing and coordinating accommodations that may be reasonable and appropriate, such as regular breaks and a private space for lactation, additional breaks to use the restroom, excused absences for medical appointments, amongst others.
    • If a student has disclosed that they are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition, all faculty and staff must:
      • Provide the student with the Title IX Coordinator's contact information -- titleix@sarahlawrence.edu;
      • Inform the student that the Title IX Coordinator can coordinate specific actions to prevent sex discrimination and ensure the student's equal access (i.e., reasonable accommodations); and
      • Inform the Title IX Coordinator by filing a report, so the Title IX Coordinator can reach out to the student and offer support and resources (this bullet point is not applicable to confidential employees).
    • If you are a student who would like to meet with the Title IX Coordinator to discuss accommodations or supports due to pregnancy or a related condition or if you are a mandated reporter and a student has disclosed that they are pregnant or have a related condition, you may use this form.
