Subscribing to Forums

In the Forums portlet, you can subscribe to the entire portlet, a category, a topic, or a post in order to receive updates when a new post or reply is made. You can elect to receive these updates by e-mail or view them in "My Subscribed Forums" in the Forums portlet.

Subscribing to Portlets

1. Click on "Subscribe to Forum" on the portlet's main screen.
   
2. A pop-up will open. Make a selection on how you would like to be updated on new Forum activity. Check the first check box if you want to receive e-mail notifications, add posts to your My Subscribed Forums or both.
   
3. Once you have made your selections, click "Save".
   
4. If it is your first time subscribing to a Forum, when the page refreshes you will notice a new link called "View My Subscribed Forums" located under the menu.
   

Subscribing to Categories

1. To subscribe to a category, click on "Subscribe" in the top right corner of the category.
   
2. A pop-up will appear, and you can select the way you would like to be updated on new activity within the category of the Forum you are in. You can select to receive e-mail notifications, adding posts to your My Subscribed Forums or both.
   
3. Once you have made your selections, click "Save".
   

Subscribing to Topics

1. To subscribe to a topic, click on the topic you would like to subscribe to.
   
2. Click on "Subscribe" in the top right corner of the category.
   
3. A pop-up will appear. Make a selection on how you would like to be updated on new posts within the topic you want to subscribe to. Check the first check box if you want to receive e-mail notifications, add posts to your My Subscribed Forums or both.
   
4. Once you have made your selections, click "Save".
   

Subscribing to Posts

1. To subscribe to a post, click on the topic that contains the post you would like to subscribe to.
   
2. Click on the post you would like to subscribe to.
   
3. Click on "Subscribe" in the top right corner of the post.
   
4. A pop-up will appear. Make a selection on how you would like to be updated on replies to the post you are subscribing to. Check the first check box if you want to receive e-mail notifications, add posts to your My Subscribed Forums or both.
   
5. Once you have made your selections, click "Save".
   

My Subscribed Forums

1. To view your "My Subscribed Forums", go to the Discussion Board in any portlet, and click "View My Subscribed Forums".
   
2. By clicking on the dropdown menu under "My Subscribed Forums:", you can select to view "All Posts and Replies" or filter the posts and replies so you only view posts and replies within a specific forum, category, topic or post that you are already subscribed to. For more information on how to use My Subscribed Forums, refer to Forums: Viewing and Navigating Forums.
   
3. You can return to Discussion Board by clicking on the "Back to Discussion Board" link at the top right of the page. It can be identified by the image of a green arrow over a house.
