MySLC Documentation: Personal Info

Account Info

The first tab in the "Personal Info" section is "Account Info".

Faculty/Staff

In "Account Info" you can view and edit certain personal information such as your preferred first name, a prefix to your name, and whether you want to hide your middle name. You can view but not edit your email and the suffix to your name. If you wish to edit this information either contact Human Resources or use the "Biographical Info" page. All changes made on either the "Account Info" page or "Biographical Info" (for more about "Biographical Info" visit Personal Info: Biographical Info) page must be approved and will not appear immediately.

  1. To edit your first name type in your preferred first name in the field marked "Preferred First Name".
  2. By default the "Hide Middle Name" checkbox is unchecked. If you wish to hide your middle name select the checkbox. If you want to display your middle name simply select the box again to uncheck it.

  3. If you wish to add a prefix to your name click on the "Prefix" drop down menu. By default this menu is set to "None". Simply select the desired prefix from the drop down menu to add a prefix to your displayed name on MySLC.

  4. To save your changes click "Save" at the bottom of the page. To discard your changes click "Cancel".

Student

In "Account Info" you can view, but not change, how your name and email is displayed on MySLC. If you would like to edit this information you can either contact the Registrar's office or use the "Biographical Info" page in "Personal Info"(for more about the "Biographical Info" page visit Personal Info: Biographical Info). Any changes made must be approved and will not appear immediately.

Only faculty and staff can see your email. However, faculty and staff members can only view your email if they are in the same context (for more about contexts visit Pages, Portlets, and Layout: What is a Context?) as you. For example, if a faculty member is your professor they can view your e-mail within the context of your class. Or if you belong to the same Campus Group as a staff member they can view your email within the context of that group.
