MySLC Documentation: Pages, Portlets, and Layout

Adding Custom Content

Custom Content is completely customizable portlet. It is created blank, which allows you to enter in any content you wish.

  1. To add a Custom Content portlet, first go to the page that you want to add the portlet to. Once on that page, click the "Edit Page" icon in the upper right hand corner of the page.
  2. Upon clicking on this icon, you will be taken to the "Customize page" screen. Click on the "Content" tab.
  3. Once on the Content tab, you will see a list of all the portlets on the page. Below is a menu of editing options. Click on the "Add custom content" link.
  4. A new screen will load where you will be asked to enter the name of the Custom Content portlet you wish to create. Simply type the desired name into the text box. Something short and descriptive is best, like Class Presentations.
  5. Once you have entered the portlet name, click "Create" to save the portlet or "Cancel" to discard the portlet.
  6. Now that you have created a Custom Content portlet, visit Custom Content: Adding Custom Content Elements to add content to your new portlet.
